Volta

Volta is a member of the Platoon of Sentinels. She acts as the weapons specialist and mechanic, making gadgets and gear for her comrades. She doubles as a mechanic for M1nit0r. She is also the only female of the group and the last to join.

Volta is an alien biologist from the planet Electra-2. She came with a group of other biologists of her species to study and collect samples of elements from the different planets in the Milky Way Galaxy, a.k.a. our solar system. Volta and another biologist came to Earth to study it, but the OMER Science and Technology Corporation captured her when they wanted to use her in science experiments. She met the team when they infiltrated OMER’s headquarters and set her free. However, she was used in a science experiment that had no effect on her, but resulted in the creation of The Guardian. She then proceeded to join their group and help aid them in their quest to save the world, with her technological skills.

Volta’s alien species, the Eleckit, is a population of cyborgs, but not in the context of having only some parts being entirely robotic and others being entirely organic. An Eleckit’s very DNA in interlaced with nanotechnology. Nanotechnology runs throughout the entire figure of an Eleckit. For the most part, Eleckits look like normal human beings. One of the major differences that can be seen with the naked eye is that Eleckits have very little pigmentation. Their hair is white and their skin is very pale. The other major difference is that their eyes don’t have irises. Their pupils are optic lights, which are little lights inside the eyeball to help them see. Eleckits are also very thin creatures, due to their lack of dependency on food. They mostly feed off electricity. Eleckits also have extra mechanical arms to help them when working with multiple objects.

Coming from a planet that revolves around technology, Volta is highly intelligent in all areas of mechanics and gadgetry. She can speak 270 different languages, thanks to traveling to numerous planets for study. Sometimes, Volta’s personality appears somewhat childish, due to her lack of knowledge of Earth’s social norms. As smart as she is, she sometimes has a hard time wrapping her head around things her comrades or other Earthlings say. Despite her intelligence and technology, Volta’s weaknesses are just like normal humans’. She’s not invincible to any weapons, so she can be easily hurt by enemy fire, but she does heal or “repair” herself slightly faster than a normal human if she were injured.

There were several traits that I took from myself to help develop a personality for Volta. One trait was my expertise with computer parts and programs and maybe a little one my liking for taking things apart. Of course, I translated those to Volta’s ability to work with machines and gadgets and her occupation as a biologist. I also heavily rely on my computer and iPod, nowadays, so that’s why Volta (and her species) is made of organic tissue and nanotechnology. I tied my solitude with Volta. As I spend most of the day alone, still communicating with my friends, Volta spends most of her time at the base because of her limited education on communication with the human population. She does surface, occasionally, but tends to be somewhat awkward, just as I.

Volta by xSweetSlayerx
This is the original essay I wrote explaining my character Volta for my Psychology of Human Relations class. She was a character I had to create for a group project at the time, and she has been dormant since those two years. So, I reviving her and I'm gonna try and make her a regular character of mine.

At this point—story-wise—the Platoon of Sentinels has disbanded and Volta is now back to her normal business as a biologist exploring space.
